As a former commercial director, I'm familiar with the nuances of briefings, pitchback, kickoff calls, (pre-)(pre-)pre-pros, locations, casting, boarding, production design, wardrobe, styling, camera, lighting, and post. A run of lucky collaborations left me with a bunch of pencils and lions under my belt (though I rarely wear them out).

 

Writing is thinking, playing, and problem-solving. The best treatments are more than a pro forma pass at sharing your vision; they also embody (rather than just describe) your personality and thought process. They preview what it'll be like to work with you. In conversation with you, my system captures all of it, via a proprietary toolkit of eyes, ears, glia, neurons, pulleys, and levers.

Other things I've written: TV and web series, short films, poetry, songs, press releases, bios, speeches, thank you notes, pithy texts, and lots of ad and promo copy. Some other things I've tried: teaching middle school art, raising twins, sleeping on my front. Message: I'm human. I was born in Evanston, spent 2 years in Berlin, the awkward years outside and inside of Philadelphia, and have recently moved from Brooklyn to Toronto.
